Spray foam pricing changes with board feet, foam type, thickness, access, removal, coatings, barriers, and travel. Use the calculator and cost ranges to set expectations before requesting a written quote.
Enter the area, foam type, thickness, and prep assumptions that drive price. This is a planning range, not a final bid.
Square Feet (1500) × Applied Thickness (4") = 6,000 Board Feet
Attic ducts, roof decks, crawlspaces, garages, and metal buildings all change the project.
Removal, masking, substrate issues, barriers, coatings, and travel can change the final written quote.
A spray foam quote is not just square footage. These are the variables that usually move the price:
Closed-cell has a dense structure carrying blowing agents, raising polymer chemical costs. Open-cell is lighter, using fewer chemicals per board foot, reducing raw costs.
Low roof pitches, tight trusses, obstructions, high walls, and limited access can add masking, staging, and labor time.
Converting a standard attic floor layout to a roof-deck foam assembly may require vacuuming or removing older fiberglass or cellulose first.
Some assemblies require ignition or thermal barriers, coatings, or additional documentation, which can add material and labor cost.
| Line Item | Planning Range | Common Use |
|---|---|---|
| Open-Cell Spray Foam | $0.40 - $0.75 / Board Foot | Standard interior drywall studs, sound damping |
| Closed-Cell Spray Foam | $1.00 - $1.60+ / Board Foot | Structural roof decks, unvented decks, crawl spaces |
| Fiberglass / Blown Cellulose Depth | $1.20 - $2.50 / Sq Foot | Lower-cost attic floor top-off projects |
| Old Material Extraction Vacuum | $1.25 - $2.00 / Sq Foot | Clearing old material before air sealing or foam work |
